LYTTELTON.
The Lyttelton Borough Council held an ordinary meeting last night. Present— His Wprship the Mayor (Mr .J. Grubb), and Ore. Brown, Badcliffe, Kay, Smith, Cleary, Whit by, Webb, and Garrard. Correspondence was read from the , Lyttelton Ciub, asking, for a lamp to be erected in front of their premises. The matter was' referred to the Lighting Committee to report. From the Marine Band, thanking the Council for the late subsidy, and offering to play an extra concert on Tuesday night as a compliment to the Council. The offer was accepted with thanks. The grant for charitable aid for the ensuing year was stated as £104 3s 3d, as compared with £86 9s 10d in 1901, £77 10s in 1902, and £85 10s 6d in 1903. It was resolved that the" grant should T»e" paid iv two instalments. The Finance Committee reported receipts £682 Oβ sd, and recommended for payment accounts as follows : —General, £134 Oβ 5d ; gaiswork3 loan, £32 8s; drainage loan, £32 0s 6d The banking accounts stand as follows: — General debit, £263 10s 2d; gasworks loan credit, £1396 5s Id; drainage loan credit £1515 13s IOd; "waterworks loan credit, 16s 2d. The report wae adopted, as was the report of the foreman of works, the question of ventilating .the sewers being left to the Works Committee to act. The Works Committee's report was adopted.
