SYDENHAM
At the meeting of the Sydenham Borough Council last evening, the Mayor (Mr J. B. Sun), and Crs. Forreaiter, Bowden, JoneA; Taylor, Parsons, McMeekan, Webb, Clifford, Hadiield and . Johnson were present. The Finance Commitlee's report, which was adopted, showed receipts £152 10s 10d, and balances of accounts as follows:—Credits, separate accounts, £1015 14a; interest,account, £851 5s Id; loan account, £1662 5s 7d; debit, £4701 15s 9d. Account* were recommended for payment to the amount of £1743 5s 10d, and the . Committee advised that £1900 now on fixed deposit at bank be placed •to credit of the loans current account. It was decided to approach the Minister of Railways with regard to the state of the Colombo street crossing, as the district engineer had stated that it left no room for complaint. A deputation urged the Council to close Addison street. It was resolved that the plans for stopping the street, be on view at the . Council - Chamben», and that a public meeting be held on May 7th in regard to the matter.
