SWIMMING
The.annual 50 yards'.race of the old boys of the Bo3's' High School took place last, evening in the School bath. Keen interest was taken in the race, and there was a large entry. Several close finishes were witnessed. The final heat was won by J. Ballin (llsec) by a foot from E. Eldridge (4sec), with L. A. Shand (scr), and H. Van Asch (9sec) equal for third place. Time, 45sec. Mr Walter Johnson acted as starter and handicapper, Mr Lawrence as judge, and Mr Bueh as check starter and timekeeper. . (FKXSS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAK.) WANGANUI, March 30. At the swimming sports in the Corporation Baths on Saturday, R. C. Murphy, a lad of 18, beat the New Zealand standard time for 100y<53 by 4-sth sec, doing the distance in 64 l-sth ccc. He equalled the standard time in the 220 yds, doing the distance in 2min 50sec.
