IMPOSING CEREMONIES.
A grand chapter of the Orders of the Star of India, and the Indian Empire was held in the Dewan-i-Am this evening, Lord Curzon presiding as Grand Master. Four new Knights Grand Commanders, twenty-one Kuii?ius Commander.-*, and forty-one Companions in both Orders were invested with the insignia, of their rank. Lady Curzon and the Duchess of Connaught walked up the hall together, both dressed in costumes of white and silver and wearing diamond coronets, and <took their seats at the 'back of the dais. Golden thrones for Lord Curzon and the Duke of Connaught had been placed at the foot of the structure which formerly contained the throne of the Mogul -Emperors. DtBLHI, January 4. A wonderful State service was held today in connection with the durbar celebrations. The Viceroy and Lady Curzon, tlie Duke and Duchess of Connaught, as well as the Governors and distinguished guests, attended. Tlie service was held m the polo ground at eleven o'clock. Captain Sanford conducted the mass**d bands, and thousands of British troops were formed up in serried ranks in front of the pavilion. Bandsmen sang through megaphones with grand effect.
