PAPANUI.
The Papanui School Committee met on Monday. Present — Messrs Caverhill (ci-rirman). Brooks, Day, A. S. Ford, C. Ford, Hawke, Kettle, and Pattrick. Correspondence was received from the Beard, declining to release Mr Pratt from his year's training at the Normal School, and suggesting the appointment of Miss C. Pavitt as temporary assistant mistress. Miss Pavitt's services were accepted by the Committee till the end of the year. A satisfactory report was received from the Inspector, Mr L. B. Wood, on the examination results and past year's work in the school. Friday, August 29H<. -vn« fixed for the presentation of medals and prizes. It was decided, after discussion, to award prizes in each Standard this year. It was decided to have trees in the play ground thinned out immediately.
