THE BAND OF HOPE UNION
The second of the series of contests nowbeing held in the Choral Hall in connection with the Canterbury Band of Hope Union toot place last evening, before. a large audience. The vocal solos were well given, and the Tecitations indicated careful training on ths part of the instructors. The prize winners of Monday evening wer© ■ as follows:—Recitations, Class A—Elsie M. Dobbs {Cambridge terrace. Primitive Band of Hope); first; Louisa Hull (Crescent road Wosleyao Band of Hope), second; Dorris Down (Selwyn street. Wes- ; leyan Band, of Hope), third. Vocal solos, I Class D, ladies—Miss Field (Cambridge ] terrace Primitive Methodist Band of Hope), first; Mrs G. Lomas (same), secpnd; Miss Butterfield (•Crescent road Wesleyan Band of Hope), third. Gentemen —Mr J. Clark- j son (Woolston Wesleyan Band of Hope), | first; Mr Farrant (Sydenham Wesleyan ] Band of Hope), eecond. The contests will be continued at tihe Chtoial Hall to-night.
