PAYMENT OF MEMBERS.
TO TES EDITOR OF THS PKESS. Sir, —Your • correspondent, "Begin at Home," evidently desires to convey the impression to the minds, of your readers that I purposely absented myself when the first reading of "*he Payment of Members' Bill came on. I did not, and never have purposely absented myself from the- House to escape recording my vote on any division taken. I was not aware that the Bill was coming on, and arrived in the House shortly after the vote was taken. Had I been present I should have voted against the first reading o£ the Bill. In fairness to myself I think I may be permitted to say that I stick as close to my duties as any member in the House. —Yours, etc, H. G. ELL.
