The ordinary meeting of the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council w*_s lield ,-n the Trades Hall on Saturday, the president (Mr J. A. MeCuliougii) in the chair. Ihe l__*ecu'tiv.'s report on tha municipal platform eon.i-.ted of the following planks, which were agreed to: —(1) Tiie establishment pf a greater Christchurch ; (2) municipalisation of high water supply, gas and electric power; (3) municipalisation of tramways; (4) the extension and completion of drainage system ; (5) that councils pay same rate of wages as private employers—in no case to be less than £2 2s per week—44 hours to constitute a week's work, and all employees who have been employed for twelve months shall be granted a fortnight's holiday on pay; (6) the direct employment; of labour by the local bodies, whenever possible, in preference to contraction both in the supply of commodities and constructive works; (7)* the appointment of a medical officer of health; (b; that the alienation of any land of the councils be prohibited; (9) that a public morgue be erected; (10) that competent inspectors be appointed to inspect food supplies. The Lxecutive were instructed to draft an order paper, to be submitted to a special meeting. There was a large audience last night at the Opera House when the Wingate Sisters made their first appearance. Their trapeza wovk was enthusiastically applauded a__3 the slide ior life by Miss Wingate on a slender wire from the dress circle to tha stage bioug-ht down the hious-e. Mr. Connie Moieni's triple bar act was also wonderfully clever. Tha Leslie 'Brothers in their musical act and the other ladies and gentlemen of ths comp_.ny in thedr respective turns also re-eeived grtat'applau.e. To-night the same bill will 63 repeated.

The.* was a large audience at- th? Oddfellow's Hall last night when the Fuller Bijou Company repeated their n.w gramme, which went excellently. To-night is the last occasion on which it- will be given, and to-morrow evening th.re will be an entire change.
