EXHIBITION NOTES.

The following judges have been appointed for the class..-* in the Canterbury Horticultural -.o.k-ty's schedule at the" Jubilee Flower Show next week in the Exhibition.—Messrs G. Knovvie. and Proctor (not plants), Messrs J. Gray and J. Lewis (cut flowers), Messrs Coatc's and G. J. Smith, Ashburton (fruit and vegetables), Messrs J. Guntrip. Tho_. Allen, C. E. Gibbons, and W. T. Mitchell will act as class stewaids and Staging Committee. Intending exhibitors are notified that the exhibits in the Honvi Industries classes are to be shown on the second day only (January 17th). and in the Canterbuiy Horticultural Societv'cbsses on January 16th and 17th. Mr E. W. Seager has arranged a series of free limelight entertainments, comprising views of different parts of the world, which are exhibited iv the room near the band stand. The entertainment- I *, which are exceedingly int.resting, are given in the afternoons.

Last night at the Exhibition tlie first stage of the gymnastic competition was got oft. The events wi.r_ as und-r:—Roman rings, St. Luke's and Wellington teams; dumb b.-ls, Fendalton, St. Luke's and Wellington Ladies' teams; parallel bars. Wellington, St. Luke's, and Fendalton teams. Professor P. Byrne acied as judge, and Messrs W. Evans and C. J. Ward as umpires. The work done throughout was excellent, particularly the Wellington Ladies' team in the dumb bell exercises. Owing to some unexplained reason the various points were not able to be obtained, th*- Committee holding them over till the final on Saturday next. To-night a concert arranged by Miss .Scrivenor will b_ given, for which "an attractive programme has betn arranged.
