MEETINGS, ENTERTAINMENTS, &c.

A dance of- the Huia Club, at Kaiapoi, was held on Friday evening, at which seventy-five members were present. There were several very pretty dresses worn.; Music was supplied by Messrs Hoslrins and Bennett and Mr, J. Porter acted as M.C. There was a dainty supper, and theutrhok affair was a pronounced success.

The card tournament in connection with the Druids' Lodges was concluded this week, and resulted as follows:—St. Albans 6 points. Perseverance 5, Ivy of Linwood 4, Anchor 3. Pioneer 2, Mistletoe 2, Sydenham nil. The prizes will be presented at ti*e smoke'concert on Tuesday night.

The Fuller Bijou Company bad. a very good house at the Oddfellows' Hall on Saturday night. Mr Faning appeared successfully in. a new sketch, and the turns of Miss Grorgie Devoe, Miss Myra James, and Messrs Douglass and Herbert were highly appreciated by the audience. To-night Mr Will Wat kins is announced to re-appear, and there will also be a new first part, "On tbe Sands at Sumner."

Lust night, at the Choral Hall, Mr E. H. Buckingham gave a descriptive lecture on "Pilgrim's Progress," illustrated by limelight pictures. A number of illustrated sacred Bolas were also sung.

The annual gemraJ meeting of the Post and Telegraph Athletic Oub was held on Saturday Thtffe was a large attendance. In the absence of the president, Sir C. Treweek occupied the chair. The report showed the club to be in a flourishing condition. The balance-sheet showed a

credit balance of £6. The following were elected officers:—President, Mr R. Kirton ; viw-presidents. Messrs J. W. Gannawey and D. Miller; secretary and treasurer, Mr F. J. Shanks; assistant secretary, Mr J. Willis ; auditor, Mr L. W. Bourke;" committee. 'Messrs Green. Brocks. W. Maosell, Oox. Daniels and Sigley. Mr W. Mansell woe re-elected delegate to the Thursday Cricket Association, and Mr J. E. Green was appointed delegate to the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association.
