A GOOD EXAMPLE.
Sir,--—At the sports on Boxing Day, Messrs T. and lv of Doric, went round amongst the farmers : on tlie ground, and collected between 20 and 30 tans of oatsheaf cliaff and a quantity of oats for the New Zealand Contingent. Could not this be done in other districts, and advantage taken of the crowds met together at the various sports held on New Year's Day? Few would refuse to give a little towards feeding our horses on the voyage.— Yours, etc., ; 1 J.H. Rakaia.
