"THE PRESS" "MORE MEN" FUND.
-«. CONTRIBUTIONS OF ONE SHILXINQ INVITED. As explained in our leading columns recently, and in a circular inued with ""The Presa," we invite those of our readers who think tbat the number of the New Zealaad Contingent should be increased to send a shilling to the "More Men" Fund aa an exjmeaaion of their opinion to this effect. . The amount th*ji raited wSI b» de-roted , to a two-fold object—first, to purchasing . supplies and extra comforts for the New . Zealand Contingent, and second, to aid the Patriotic Fund. Subscriptions will be received not only at the publishing office of "The Press," Cashal stzeet, but at every agency of "The Press" throughout New Zealand. It is intended to publish a full list of 1 donors in "The Press, and as the chief ob> 1 ject i« to elicit an expression of public 1 opinion on the subject, it is requested that the names may be forwarded to ua day by day pg promptly as possible. There are only "three points which we need recall to the minds of our readers in this place.*-— (1) The Mother Country is in urgent need of men and has asked for our assistance, (2) A large number of New Zealand volunteers are eager to go to her help. (3) The cost of our first Contingent of 211 men is estimated at 3d per head of our population ; if we sent another 500 men, it would cost us about Is lOd per head additional. if we raised our total contribution to 1000 mounted men it would cost altogether no more than 3s 9d per head for each man, woman and child of the population. We sing "Rule Britannia," we lose no opportunity of proclaiming our devotion to the Motherland. Is even 3s 9d per bead too much to contribute as a tangible expression of our patriotism?
