SUMNER.
The Sumner Borough Council met on j Wednesday. The Finance Committee reported j that the debit balance amounted to £325 3s j 9d. The Works Committee recommended j | that, in the event of the proposed system of drainage of Redcliffs being earned out, the offer of Mr Fuchs..for the sale to the Council of Lot 76 should be accepted; that, the suggested drainage of Redcliffs be approved; that two lamps be erected at Redcliffs; that the road between the cutting and engine house be formed, cost not to exceed £50. These were referred to the Finance Committee to report. It was also recommended that the Tram Company be supplied with water at the lowest rate of 2s 6d per 1000 gallons. This was adopted. A petition was presented by Mr Drew on behalf of several ratepayers, asking that the by-law referring to the erection of tents and the restrictions placed on campers should be repealed. A motion was carried to the effect that the request be granted, with the exception of that portion referring to By-law 78. Sir Crawford was appointed vainer for 1900.
