Tbe Sydenham Borough Council met at 7 p.m. Present—The retiring Mayor, Mr J. Hadfield, the Mayor-elect, Mr B. P. Manhire, and Crs. Day, Sims, Meikleham, Tay- , lor, Smith, Forrester and Jones. . I The Returning Officer wrote, stating that ! he ihad declared Mr J. Hammett elected to the Council for the Addington Ward, vice Mr B. P. Manhire, resigned, and Cr. Hammetb took his seat. The Mayor-elect -waa then installed, and took has seat. Mr T. G. Russell -wrote, stating that the tramway award would be filed next week in Wellington. The Canterbury section of the Medical Association wrote, forwarding a resolution, asking that the by-laws in respect to contagious diseases should be enforced, and spe- . cial vehicles used for conveying patients to the Hospital. The matter was referred to the Sanitary Committee to report upon. The Council then went into Committee to consider applications $j>r a junior clerk' j and tenders.
