DURBAN, October 22.
General White and Lieutenant-General French expelled the enemy from Elandslaager, where they had destroyed the railway. The British captured their equipment, honea and waggons, the cavalry pursuing the enemy.
Joubert's main column, 7000 strong, with headquarters at Danhausen, sent out an advance body 2000 etrong,but the Leicestershire and 15th Battery checked their advance at Hattingepruit. „
On Thursday night 2000 Free Staters reached Actinhomes, Blaanbaak, and Besters froni Mintwa Pass and Van Reenan's Pass.
The Natal Carbineers were engaged nearly all day at Besters, and narrowly escaped disaster, but the splendid service of the Maxim gun held the Boers in check
