LONDON, October 20. The Boers are attacking Glencoe in great force, and a general battle is raging. , Keporta received by the War Office state that General Symone, who is commanding at Glencoe, has been wounded, and it is also rumomtd that the British captured the Boer position with five guns. -. later report states that 9000 Boers attacked Glencoe at daybreak, shelling the town from the surrounding hills. Four thousand British defended. The Boers captured a goods train, on which were several war correspondents, at Elangslaagte, thus preventing reinforcements reaching Glencoe. The Natal Carbineers galLmtly engaged two thousand of the enemy at Bestere, when sixteen British were wounded. Lieutenant Gallwey, a son of Sir Micnael Henry Gallwev, Chief Justice of Natal, is amongst the missing. DUBBAN, October 20. The British artillery at Glencoe made excellent practice, and silenced the Boer guns. The infantry, after hard fighting, captured an almost inaccessible position, driving out the Boers, who retired eastward. The British losses were heavy.
