UNIVERSITY SENATE.

Dr. Giles has (according to the "NewZealand Herald") seat in to the Chancellor of the New Zealand University the resignation of his seat ou the Senate, as he cannot conveniently attend the ensuing session at Ciiristchurcii. He was not present at the Dnnedin session last year, and absence on a second occasion would forfeit his seat ipso facto. In these circumstances he considered it Ottter to send in his resignation before the session began, so that no time may be lost in tilling the vacancy. The Senate* and Convocation elect the Fellows alternately.
