SUPREME COURT TRIALS.
. (PHKSS ASSOCIATION TItIGBAM.) . NAPIER, February 8. At the Supreme Court Michael Foggerty was sentenced to six months for theft of a cashrbox lrom the Star Hotel. The case aganst Timothy Troy, of Auckland, charged with "ringing in" a dog at the recent meeting of the Hawke's Bay Coursing Club, occupied all day. The accused was found "Not guilty." INVERCARGILL, February 8. In the case of cattle stealing against the Nicbolls, father and son, Mrs Nicholls refused to give the name of the person who she said left her house in the company of her son on the evening before the theft. The Crown Prosecutor asked that she should be committed for contempt of court. His Honour did not commit her, but ordered that she be removed and kept in custody. At a later stage, Mrs Nicholfs was brought in, and explained that she had made a mistake of a week in regard to some matter, and, being afraid to acknowledge it, had refused to reply to the question put by the Crown Prosecutor. The explanation was accepted, and she was set at lib3rty.
