THE MAGNETIC SURVEY.
Says the "Otago Daily Times":—Mr C. C. Farr will be engaged for about a week or so in making investigations with the object of ascertaining whether Dunedin is a suitable place in which to establish a magnetic observatory. To obtain reliable results, a place not subject to many local disturbances is essential. The observations will have a commercial as well as a scientific value, and if Dunedin is found to be suitable, the delicate and valuable instruments lent to the Government by the Imperial authorities at Kew will bo at once placed in position.
