STRUCK BY LIGHTNING.
The Southland "Times" states that a boy, the son of a fanner at Spring Hills, was received into the hospital suffering from the effects of being struck by- lightning, while in a paddock with two other boys on Sunday last. His face is burned, his hair singed, and his eyes axe closed. It was raining at the time, and ifc may be noted that the lightning was not followed by thunder that could .be heard. The other boys were not touched." In the case of the injured lad a favourable result is hoped for.
