CHRISTCHURCH PUBLIC DOMAIN.
TO THE KDITOB OF Till; PRESS. Sir, —In reading your report of the Selwyn County Council, published in the "Press" on th-3 26th inst., I noticed they had under discussion a letter from the Christchurch Domain Board, asking the Council to contribute towards the maintenance of the Domain. With all respect to the members who constitute the Do-main Beard, I would suggest to them the following scheme, whereby in a short time they would have an income sufficient to keep the park in good order, and make very little difference "in their present income as a sheet* run.
Let them have the frontage from the Carlton bridge to the Public Gardens surveyed into building alio—nents, aud either sell or let on long leases; they could afterwards extend the system to the south side of the road. I have no doubt in a short time we should see a terrace of houses that would bs a credit to Christchurch, and link Fendalton and Riccarton to the city. Respecting the difficulties, I fail to see why they could not obtain the same privilege as the Church of England authorities have in selling their sections in Christchurch and suburbs.—Yours, &c, AD REM.
