LINWOOD.

The Linwood Borough Council met last evening. Present—His Worship the Mayor, Crs. A. Ayers, Jos. Taylor, J. R. Brunt, H. Pearee, Jno. Taylor, J. Cleworth, 3. Jamieson, F. Board, and A. Marshall. •The receipts since last meeting were £791 2s 5d ; dr. balance at bank, _..o iys bd ; aud accounts to the amount of £454 3s 9d were passed for payment. Messrs C. Lewis and T. E. Taylor wrote in reference to matt—-s In connection with the, recent valuations, both pointing out what action they had taken in the matter. The letters were received. The Mayor was appointed to attend a Conference to discuss the liability of the Drainage Board to maintain bridges crossing drains. Petitions to have certain footways tarred were referred to the Works Committee. Reports were presented a_d adopted from the _ _iaoce and Works Committees and the Inspector., Cr. Aye„s was appointed to represent the Council on the Canterbury Railway League. It was decided- to make application to have matters in connection with the Burwood Cemetery Reserve held over until the different local bodies had had an opportunity of discussing the matter. It was also decided that the Council join the Municipal Association.

A deputation Was appointed to wait on the Drainage Board in connection with the Tuam street drain.

It, was decided to postpone for the present the improving of Nursery road, and that of the River road referred to the Works Committee.
