MEETINGS, ENTERTAINMENTS, &c.
A very successful gathering of members of the Druidical Order took place last evening in the lodge room of the I\-y of Linwood. The Grand Lodge officers were present, and Arch Druid Bro. Bush presided. Visitors were present hailing from Melbourne, Wellington, Dunedin, Oamuru, Timaru and each lodge in and around Christchurch. The usual loyal and Druidical toasts were honoured. An excellent programme of songs was given, and tbe gathering throughout was not only most representative but thoroughly successful.
On Friday evening, the members of the Christchurch Working Men's Club Rifle Class fired another Morris tube competition at tbe 200 yards range. The following were the highest scorers :—R. C. Wells (scr) 33, W. Watts (scr) 33, J. Kermode (scr) 32, T. Prisk (3) 32, E. Barlow (1) 30, and R. E. Hunter (2) 30.
At a meeting of the Papanni district School Committee, it was decided, with reference to the annual school picnic, that the children be taken by drags to Rangiora on the 21st instant. Some opinions of an unfavourable character were expressed in regard to the charges named by the Railway department for the picnic, the view being held that these were exorbitant.
