Some anxiety is felt for the safety of the little steamer Swan, which left here on January 14th, for Wellington. .News received from Lord Howe Island states that she called there on January 20th short of coal, and resumed her voyage on the 26th. BRUTAL MURDER OF A WOMAN. : PERTH, February 6. A gardener, named Fox, residing at Claremont, came to Perth on Saturday with his family, leaving his wife at home. When they returned the wife was missing, and was eventually found dead a short distance from her home. Her head was split open with an axe, and there were wounds on the upper part of her legs. There is no Vlue to the perpetrator.
