THE MEMBER AND THE RING.

Wellington gossip is concerned just now with the story of the member and the ring. As already repprted, two of the rank and file, after a very heated debate, the' other morning adjourned to the tennis lawn to adjust their differences. The air was thick with portents—and other things—for a time, but the affair passed off harmlessly enough. One member, whom we will call A., discovered that the other, 8., had a ring on, and demanded its removal. This took some time, and then A. noticed that it was broad daylight, and people were moving about. To fight then would be to disgrace the House, and he declined. No doubt this was a very proper resolution. Some people, however, are inclined to give tho honourable member credit for prudence as well as for propriety.
