NOTES AND MEMORANDA.
Attention is drawn to a supplement issued with the Press to-day. Messrs !p. Armstrong and Co. notify that their building operations, which have greatly inter-" fered with their season's trade, are now- happily completed, and there will be a great clearance of the stock, bargains being available in all departments. A social gathering in connection with the Prohibition League will be held to-night in the rooms of the *..C.T.U., Gloucester street, when the admission will be by silver coin.
The , Christchurch Meat Company notify that they will have a special display of meat at their Cashel street shop this afternoon, and customers are invited to call and inspect the quality of the same.- Yesterday quite a large crowd gathered in front of their Cashel street shop to watch the handling of a'largejcarcase of beef as it was slowly hauled up into position in front of the shop, where it can now be seen.
As will be seen by a notification elsewhere, the additions to Messrs Hayward and Co.'s Rink Stables will be opened to-morrow at 3 p.m. A meeting of the Canterbury Women's Institute will be held in Hobbs's Buildings this evening at eight o'clock, when the* subject of "Removal of Civil and Political Disabilities of Women," will be discussed. Mrs Sheppard, Miss Stella Henderson', and others will speak. "
