(press association telegram.) WELLINGTON, March 19. The conferring of the New Zealand Cross on ah Auckland resident has provoked the resentment'of the Wellington veterans, who intend to make combined representations to the Government oh the matter. Lieutenant-ColoueJ McDonnell, who left oo Saturday in the Ruahice for London, has put in claims for badges of honour, but not on his own account. He Bays that as the Governraent have re-opened the list he has recommended Messrs Northoroft, S.M., at Wanganui; Judge Scannell, of the Native Land Court, and Mr O'Connor, a messenger, at ' equally deserving.of the cross for brave deeds done by them in the sixties, aud hitherto ignored. j
