AUCKLAND, November 10. The Jubilee festival at Howick, commemorative of the landing of the Royal New Zealand Fenciblee at Howick, in 1847, proved a exeat success. One thousand persons 'were present. There were a series of sports, and a dinner, at which 200 descendants of the pensioners sat down, and a ball in the evening. There was only one surviving Howick pensioner, Thos. Heath, eighty-three, and he and his wife and the three surviving widows were photographed in a group. Groups of descendants of pensioners of the ships Minerva, Sir Robert Sale, and Sir George Seymour also were photographed. The Hon. Colonel Haul tain is the only surviving divisional officer. November 11. Henry St. George Sloan was committed for trial on a charge of theft from the Albert Brewery. At the Onehnnga Police Court the licensee of the Victoria Hotel was charged with exposing liquor for sale on Sunday, October 17th. The information was dismissed. NEW PLYMOUTH, November 11. The petroleum boring operations at Moturoa are suspended pending the arrival of casing for the bore which is now down 1562 ft. Meanwhile the staff are erecting a derrick some miles inland preparatory to boring. An additional expert driller is expected next week. WELLINGTON, November 11. Mr A. F. Castendyke, Consul for Germany, died this morning after a short illness.
