PENALTIES FOB CULPABLE
NEGLIGENCE.

Paris, August 25. M. de Mackan, President of the Committee at the Paris Charity Fete, the scene of the terrible fire in May last, who was charged with culpable negligence in connection with the disaster, was fined 500 francs, while two employees, working the oinematographe where the fire originated, were sentenced, in one case to a fine and a year's imprisonment, and in the other to eight months' imprisonment. All the prisoners will be treated as first offenders.
