ASHLEY COUNTY ASSOCIATION.
Under the auspices of this Association, Rangiora played Kowai at Rangiora, the former winning by 26 runs, the game being decided on the first innings. The scores were—Rangiora 50 and 87 for three wickets, Kowai 25. For Rangiora Bailey made 17 in the first, and Atkinson 54 (not out), Roebuck 13 and Felton 10 (not out) in _ the second innings ; for Kowai, F. Banks made 10.(not out). Felton and Allan bowled best , for Rangiora; Thompson and Banks for Kowai. Kaiapoi met Woodend on the ground of the latter, and won by an innings and 42 runs, making 104 runs (Garrard 33, L. Oram 22, R. M. Wright 11) in the first innings. Woodend scored 24 (F. Smith 10) and 38 (J. Judson 10). For Kaiapoi J. Bate took eight wickets for 35, Garrard eleven for 20 ; Woodend—R. Flutey six for 4, S. Smith two for 9, Judson two for 4. To fill up time Kaiapoi played again, making 81 for nine wickets (Garrard" not out 32, Homer 12), Cust met Amberley on the ground of the latter and suffered defeat to the extent of 52 runs (Weyland 18) to 259 (Adams 82, Wagner 74, H. Mason 36, Fitzhenry 23, Wornald 19, Moore 12). The bowling of the Masons was disastrous to the visitors.
