General Baldissera, the new Com-mander-in-Chief of the Italian army in Abyssinia, states that the fate of 7000 of those who took part in the recent disastrous engagement with the Shoas is unknown. March 11. The Shoas had 4000 killed and 6000 wounded in the recent battle. The feeling is growing throughout Italy that a withdrawal from Abyssinia is impossible. News has been received tHtt a force of 10,000 Dervishes is in the vicinity of Kassala. Berlin, March 11. The North German Gazette, in an inspired article, declares that the Italian reversals in Abyssinia will not affect Italy's position in the Triple Alliance. Sydney, March 11. The Italian Society has cabled to King Humbert regretting the defeats, and entreating that the national honour be vindicated at any cost. At a meeting of Italian residents it was decided to collect subscriptions for the wounded.
