▲ very enjoyable match was played on Saturday between Sydenham and New Brighton on the courts of the latter. Neither Club was fully represented, Brighton in particular being without the services of several of their best players. After an interesting contest, the Sydenham players won by 16 games. The following are the ■cores:—Singles—Seay (S.) beat Sutherland (N. 8.), 9—6; Lyttelton (S.) beat Cant (N. 8.-), 9—6; Gee (S.) beat Bickerton (N. 8.), 9—6; Miss A. Baldwin (S.) beat Mrs Schmidt (N. 8.), 6—3; Miss Blanchard (S.) beat Mrs Barlow (N. 8.), 6—5. Ladies' Doubles—Misses Baldwin (S.) beat Mrs Schmidt and Miss Gardner (N. 8.), 6—5; Miss Blanchard and Miss Lusk (S.) beat Mrs Franks and Mrs Barlow (N. 8.), 6—2. Combined Doubles—Seay and Miss A. Baldwin (S.) beat Rowe and Mrs Schmidt (N. 8.), 9—4; Sutherland and Miss Gardner (N. 8.) beat Lyttelton and Miss Baldwin (S.), 9—6; Franks and Mrs Franks (N. 8.) beat Hall and Miss Lusk (S.), 9—6. Men's Doubles—Seay aud Lyttelton (S.) beat Cant and Rowe (N. 8.), 9—2; Rudd and Gee (S.) beat Warren and Bishop (N. 8.), 9—B; Bickerton and Warren (N. 8.) beat Rudd and Joll (S.), 9—3; Bishop and Franks (N. 8.) beat Hall and Joll (S.), 9—5. Totals—Sydenham 93, New Brighton 82. An enjoyable match was played on the Rangiora courts on Saturday afternoon between the Rangiora and Kaiapoi Clubs, and resulted m a victory for the former by 84 games to 54. The following are the sets played :—Blaokwell (K.) beat Gower (R.), 9—4; Fisher (R.) beat Leithead (rL),9—3 ; Miss Fuller (R.) beat Miss Black well (K.), 9—7; Cumberworth and Bean (R.) beat Leithead and Parnham (K.), 9—2 ; Gower and Baber (R.) beat Blackwell and Leithead (K.). 9-8; Volckman and Fisher (R.) beat Blaokwell Bros. (K.), 9—3; Bean and Volckman (R.) beat Parnham and Blackwell, jun. (K.), 9—2 ; the Misses Blackwell (K.) beat Misses Fuller and Thompson (R.), 9—B; Baber and Miss Fuller (R.) beat Leithead and Miss Blackwell (K.), 9—6; Oumberworth and Miss Thompson (R.) beat Parnham and Miss Blaokwell (K.), 3-5.

AUCKLAND, March 7. The Auckland Lawu Tennis Championships were played this afternoon. Mr J. Hooper won, beating A. Peel, last year's champion, 6—2, 3—6, 6—o, 6—2. Miss Nicholson won, beating Miss Spiers, 6—3, 6—3.
