THE ALLEGED MURDER AT NOTTINGHAM.
ANOTHER STATEMENT BY THE ACCUSED. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, August 6. When Samuel Evison was brought before the Police Court to-day, charged with the murder of a certain woman named Jennie at Nottingham in June, 1882, for which he has been remanded from time to time since May last, he made a statement affirming that his confession at Hamilton was untrue. The police reported that they had received a communication from Nottingham, merely stating that the matter would receive a full and searching enquiry, and th* result be forwarded by next mail.' The accused was again remanded for eight days. An English paper to hand mentions,.in reference to Evison'a case, that the body oi a young woman was found in the river in June, 1882, which appeared to giw credence to Evison's story.
