THE URIWERA COUNTRY.
The Hon. J. A. Cadman, who is now at Huntley, has received a communication from Mr Gordon, in the Uriwera country, saying that the inland Natives objected very strongly to the party going in past Mangapohatu, and offered to _end a party of four Natives to bring out samples of tbe stone supposed to be goldbearing. Iv deference to their wishes, Mr Gordon decided not to proceed further, but to await the return of these messengers. Mr Gordon mentions that judging from the formation and class of country, he is not very much impressed with it as goldbearing.
