LAND SETTLEMENT.
At the Wellington Land Board, lost Wednesday, an application was received from tome settlers ita tho Wellington Fruitgrowers' Association at Waikanae to be allowed to transfer their interest. It transpired that nor fruit trees had been planted ou ono section, grass being the only product, and that the/ resideuco conditions had not been coraplYod with. Iα one case the proposed transferee was a toe-plate manufacturer, who/had niado a declaration that he intended i to reside on the land. From the surrounding circumstances it did not appear that the fruit-growing industry in that locality/ was assuming extraordinary pro* portiojus, and the .Board decided to ask the Uutth for their reasons for desiring the tranilor.
