MAGNIFICENT CAVES.
New stalactite caves have been discovered about six hours' ride from the famous Waitomo Caves. The Government Surveyor at Otorohanga says they are "in eoino respects bolter than the Waitomo Caves. For one thing, they are larger, aud two of the rooms aro really maguiticent, looking just tho tnrno as the dotno of a large theatre. Tho staluutites and mouldings are fight around tho domes. One room iu particular is a study for geologists, the dome fcml bides being studded with large oyater •iholla and clain shells. It looks juso the •tune as mosaic work. The stalactites and Btalagruitcs in the first two rooms (which arc about 200ft loLg by 40 or 50ft broad, and about 70ft high) are in a splendid state of preaervation, tkud must remain so, as they aro out of : the reach of any peroon.
