The Board took inlo consideration the position of the proposed tram line on the Lincoln road, which had been deferred for consideration, and it was resolved to grant the concession for the centre of the road from the present terminus to the boundary of the district. The Surveyor reported that several of the footpaths in the ;district were injured by persons cutting channels across them for the purpose of letting off storm water from their land; also, that trespass by horsemen was getting a serious nuisance on public paths. The Board wa9 of opinion that, as the maintenance of footpaths in the district was now a great expense, the trespass must be stopped, and it was.resolved that the Surveyor take legal proceedings, under the Public Works Act, againet all persons offending, and that information be laid with the police against every one fonnd riding or driving' stock on the public patha, also that the Board's workmen report all such trespassers coming under their notice. Complaints having been made that persons were in the habit of emptying nightsoil pans into the public water courses of the district, it was resolved to place the matter in the hands of the police, and to offer a reward to any one . giving - such information as will lead to the detection of the offenders. The Surveyor's report was read and approved, and' the following resolutions were carried:—"That application be made to the Selwyn County Council for a better outlet for the water-race on the West Coast road; that the river bed end of the Sawyers , Arms road be repaired by filling in the ruts; that the roof of the Board's stable and shed be repaired ; that tenders be invited for painting the Board's office and premises; that Mr Eorler's frontage on the Bush Inn road, which has beeu injured by the floods be fenced ia as per report."
