ACCIDENT TO A STEAMER.
(PRESS A3SOCTATXON TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, May 14. The s.B. Australia arrived at ten o'clock to-night from Napier, in «tow of the Orowaiti, having broken her starboard shaft during the morning, while off Castle Point. The accident, which happened at 4.30 a. m., caused the tunnel to fill with water, and it was only with considerable difficulty that tlie flow was stopped. After the mishap, the vessel proceeded under the port engine, aud was picked up off Cape Palliser by the Growaili, bound from Napier to Westport.
