RANGIORA.
Tuesday, Mat 9. (Before H. W. Bishop, Esq., R.M., A. Todd and E. R. Good, Esqs., J.P.'s.) Creating a Disturbance. —W. Miller, A. Binnie and J. Scudder were charged, with R. Purvis, with being drunk and disorderly and creating a disturbance at the Rangiora races. It was stated that the last-named defendant had cleared away to the North Island. The offence was admitted by the other defendants. Constable Costin proved the offence, the defendants were disorderly and quarrelsome. Fined respectively 10s and costs. Trespass in Puesuit of Game.—H. Bowling, jun., was charged with trespassing, on April 17th, with dog or gun on the land of G. W. Laxton at Flaxton. Complainant said he had previously cautioned the defendant. A witness gave evidence that defendant was on Laxtou's land on the date stated and shot a hare, and also borrowed a file from him. The defendant said he was prepared to prove that he was at the Ohoka Wool Works on the 17th, and not on the land in question. To the Resident Magistrate— Had been on defendant's land and shot a hare, but not on the 17th. The Resident Magistrate, by the power which he had, would amend the information to apply to the 17th or thereabouts. Defendant admitted the offence. Fined 20s and costs 14s. Civil, Cases. —Four civil cases set down were settled out of Court.
