KAIAPOI v SYDENHAM.
This match took place on the Kaiapoi ground, which was in good order for play, and was fairly fast. In the first spell the play was well up at the Kaiapoi end till the focal men warmed up. Thompson secured & try for Sydenham, which Recce couverted into a goal. For Kaiapoi Moir obtained ft try, which was not cijtaverted into a goal, and Oram gamed a trje? from which Renaldi lucked a goal. To the latter end of the spell there was a good deal of off-side play, and three or four free kicks were allowed. In the second part of the game the ball was kept for some time in the Kaiapoi quarters. (Chen the local men took it to the opposite quarters, aud C Siinpsen gained a try, which Lynskey failed to convert. Balch immediately made another try by a bit of fast play, and Renaldi unproved upon it. $he play was somewhat'in favour of the Sydenham team when time was called, tho match ending in favour of Kaiapoi by 14 points (two goals from tries and two tries) to O points (one goal from a try).
