The party who left Auckland on Christmas day in the yacht Venice, a vessel o£ three or four tone, have not yet returned, and their friends accordingly chartered the steamer Awahina and went down the channel to-day to search for them. The party comprised-Mr Upfill, a lady, Messrs: T. Gould, H. Qoold. E. Bees, and T. Moraby, and they should have returned yesterday forenoon. . It is hoped that they, nave put into one of the" numerous bays on the ooaat, owing to the boisterous weather which has been prevailing. Lamb. The Awhina, chartered to search for the Venice yachting party, has returned to. town without finding any trace of them. The Ughthouse keeper at Tiri Island reports that the party called there yesterday and left for Auckland. Since that they have not been seen.
