EARLY CLOSING.
TO THE EDITC-R OF THE PRESS. Sir,—l have not taken up my pen before in this aeitation, but I cannot refrain further after reading Mr Clark's letter in your issue of Friday. I could not help noticing the way he (Mr Clark) refers to the two different gentlemen mentioned in his letter. He speaks of one as the Bey. Mr Thos. Flavell, and the other as C. M. Gray ; he speaks of one as the "rev. jzentleman," and the other as " this party," and altogether his letter shows a decided bias against the gentleman who happens to keep the shop. I hope Mr Clark is not a member of Mr Flavell's congregation. If so, I feel thathe has failed to learn the lessons which I am sure that rev. gentleman inculcates, viz., love and charity to'all men. I don't know Mr Clark myself, nor Mr Gray; but I do know that Mr Gray has hitherto been a hard-working consistent member of the community, faithful to his views, and has, in gas matters and other ways, proved himself to be worthy of confidence, and of more courtesy than has been accorded to him by Mr Clark.—Yours, &c, J.O.
