GRAIN SALES.
Messrs H. Matsox and Co., associated with the National M. and A. Coy. of N.Z., Limited, report for the week ending November 25th, 1889 :—
Wheat—There is no change to report in the wheat market, which remains inactive. Buyers are few, and as a rule their prices do not meet with the approval of sellers. Latest advices from Sydney report an overstocked market there, and as millers here are well stocked there is no alternative for sellers but either accept the low prices now ruling or ship to London on consignment. Quotations are—Tuscan, 3s to 3s Id ; pearl, 2s lid; Hunter's, 2s 10d; chick wheat, broken, 2s to2s3d; whole,2s6d.
Oats—The market is dull, the demand being light for local requirements only. Sales of feed have been made at 2s to 2s Id, and milling at 2s 2d, and a very weak feeling prevails. Barley—The market for this grain has completely given way, and buyers are only offering speculative prices ac 2s to 2a 6d. Grass Seeds are but little inquired for at 4s 3d to 4s 6d for machine-dressed ryegrass, and up to 3Jd for cocksfoot. Potatoes—The market has simply collapsed, and recovery seems impossible in the face of the heavy, stocks lying in Sydney. Latest advices report that a great quantity must rot, as the quantity Is more than the requirements. Values are 30s to 355.
Dairy Produce—Unaltered at 6d for butter and 3d to 3£d for cheese.
Quotations are to.b., sacks extra.
