PORT VICTORIA.
A meeting of this Board was held Atheir office, Teddington, on Tuesday, October Ist, AU the,members were 189Bent. The Chairman reported that tile Akaroa County Council had paid the promised subsidy for the new bridge at Governor's. Bay. An application from James Pope to act as ranger mi declined. With reference to the above, the Chairman was instructed to wait on Sergeant Q'Mailey and Inspector Pender with a view to get a mounted trooper stationed in Lyttelton. Mr Wallis waited oh the Board with reference to a road to his land in Governor's Bay. The Chairman and Mr Anderson were appointed to meet Mr Wallis and view the road. Mr Hanson moved, and Mr Tapley seconded—" That all the slips and tussocks be cleared from the new Dyer's Pass road, also that about a week of day labor be tint on from the new road to the top of the Pass. Mr Anderson opposed the motion, on the ground that the road was fit for the traffic that it had on it, and further that it was necessary to be very careful of the funds, which were getting low. The Chairman concurred with the latter view. Mr Tapley said it was a work more needed than several other jobs the Board had lately done; in fact, the bad state of this road affected the living of some of the Governor's Bay residents. The motion wsa, carried—Messrs Tapley, Manson, and Allan for, and Messrs Anderson and Bradley against, The Board resolved to hold no meeting till January, unless extraordinary business occur. The Board also resolved, on account of the bad way in which some of the heaps of metal had been broken, to rigidly enforce the minute stating that 10 per cent, will be withheld till themetal is carted out. They also decided to procure a three-inch gauge. Accounts to tha amount of £13 8s were passed. The maeta ing then adjourned.
