ROAD BOARDS.
MOUNT HX7TT. The monthly meeting of the Board wa» ludjLoalhuraday, October 17th. Press-It McMillan, Johnston and Hibbe. The following correspondence was read:— From Mr* Power, complaining of hurdles across certain roads. If waa resolved to request Messrs Gould and Cameron to remove the same. From Mr Leathern, re -stones on road. Resolved to write afcd explain matters. From the County Coon cUi declining to take steps to abase the storm water on theLyudhurst Cairnbrae road. Received. From the same, re roads to be closed on High Bank. 'Resolved that the Clerk take the further .necessary steps for closing the roads. From the Railway Engineer, re railway road. Resolved to write again askiog. for some .assistance from the Railway Department towards making the road. From the Bailway Reform League. Received. A petition from, ratepayers was laid before the Board, asking to hay* certain roads in the neighborhood of Lauriston metalled. It was decided to call for tenders for the work, if the outstanding rates were paid and the Board were provided with shingle free of charge. The following tenders were accepted :—Formation, Marr's road, J. Black; formation, Dalley's road, J. Devery ; formation. Railway road, Blackburn Bros. It waa resolved to advertise the Board's intention to strike a rate of 3-10ths of a penny in the £at the next meeting. Accounts to the amount of £15 is 10a wefa passed for payment. The Clerk was, ln< structed to pay Is per hundred for birds' eggs, and the Board adjourned.
