VOLUNTEERING.
VOLUNTEER PARADE. Last evening the headquarter corps held a Government parade at the Drulshed, MajprNewall being the officer in charge. There was. a large muster, and the following was, the'parade state.:—City Guards 56, Captain Bishop; Christ's College Rifles 40, Captain Harper; Christchurch Rifles 55, Captain Bristow; Sydenham Rifles 42, Lieutenant Goidingham;-Scottish Rifles 52, Captain Campbell; Richmond Rifles 75, Captain Bowron; Irish Rifles 46, Captain Whitesldes; Garrison Band 22, Bandmaster Searrell; total 388. Majors Joyce and Francis, District Staff Officers, were also present. The battalion was formed into line, and a general salute was given. It was then formed into quarter column by the right, and marched past twice. It resumed the original position, and then deployed to the left and advanced in line in review order. The men went through the different movements very well indeed, and the guides and markers were well up to their work. The next Government parade will take place on Friday, November Ist.
