'At a meeting of the Irish Rifles, held after thefrarade last evening in the orderly room. Lieutenant Drayton, of the Queen's "Cadets, was elected lieutenant of the company.

The respective Companies were conveyed by train to the -scene of operations, and In charge of Captain Fulton. The parade state was— Kaiapoi Rifles, 61, under Lieutenants Wilson and Millar; Rangiora Rifles, 33, Lieutenant Torlesse; Kaiapoi Cadets, 45, [Captain Alexander and Lieutenant Bean; -Sergeaht-dajor Barrett acted as instructor. The exercises were battalion and skirmishing drill, after which there | was volley and independent firing.
