THE CROPS.

Oar Waimate correspondent writes:-> Daring the last fortnight a few showers have fallen, just sufficient to enable the grain to fill nicely, and we are now having glorious weather, which, if it continues for another fortnight, will bring the crops in in grand condition. Harvesting will not be general for three or four weeks yet —in fact, it will be six or seven weeks oefore some of the late crops will be properly ripe. All the crops in the district are looking well, and the yields will be much larger than those of last year. Turnips on the stations in the back country are' looking well, and good crops are expected. Potatoes are also looking well, but there are not many in this year. 1 doubt if there are more than will be re» quired for our own consumption.
