FIRE IN WELLINGTON.

WELLINGTON, January 19,
A fire broke out in Courtenay Place at 2-30 this morning, and destroyed the premises of Jackson, pork butcher; Stevens, greengrocer; Dalton, bootmaker; and a small shop occupied as dairy premises, owned by Spicer, over which he has a policy of .£I9OO in the Northern Office, partly reinsured, and JBISO in th&Phcenix. Collins' grocer's shop also was partly damaged, but the stock was not injured. The fire originated in the butcher's shop, but there is no clue as to how it started. The lessee states that he visited the shop at 10.30 the previous evening, when everything was apparently safe.
