CHRISTCHURCH HUNT CLUB.

A general meeting of the members of t—e Hunt Club was held last night. Mr A. E. G. Rhodes occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance of members. A letter was read from Mr H. Alan Scott suggesting that a theatrical performance should be given in November in aid of the funds of the Club, as there was a deficit on the year's transactions. He suggested further that a Sub-Committee should be appointed to carry out the details of the proposed entertainment. Mr A. Cure, the Hon. Treasurer, read a statement of accounts, showing that there were sixty-four active members and seventeen honorary members. There was a balance of £15 18s, but against this were liabilities which placed them in the position of having about £60 to the bad to commence the next season with. Some back accounts of the past year had been paid this year. The Chatrman moved the adoption of the balance sheet, and said that considering the wet weather they met with on the occasion of the Hunt Club Steeplechase, the season had not been so unsuccessful.

Mr Brabazox seconded the motion, which was carried. The question raised in Mr Scott s letter was then discussed. Mr E_MB—i—. suggested that a ball might be held. It was not necessary to hold the bail In the November week. Mr A. Lean thought that as a means of raising money a ball would not be at all comparable with theatricals. Mr Ejmhel _ then thought that what would be better than a ball or theatricals would be to make a call on the members to meet the deficit. He would move— " That the deficit be met by a call on the members." Mr Brabazon seconded the motion, which, after some discussion, was carried. A Sub-Committee, consisting of Messrs A. G. Bennetts and G. Palmer, was appointed to carry out the details of the above resolutions.

The Club was greatly indebted to Mr Lyon for his efforts in the cause of the Club, as he had been most energetic and zealous.
